How to Expand Your Range of Motion

Your range of motion refers to how far you can move a joint in any direction. Increasing your flexibility strengthens your joints, reduces your risk of injury, and enhances your balance. Learn how to extend your range of motion quickly and effectively.

Developing a Stretching Routine

Stretching exercises increase your flexibility by working your muscles and tendons, the elastic tissue that connects muscles to bones. Some studies suggest that stretching may also increase your muscle mass and endurance.

Warm up. Stretching warm muscles is safer and easier. Do most of your stretching at the end of your workout. If you like to stretch in advance, walk around for a few minutes first.

Proceed gradually. Gentle stretching yields faster results than pushing yourself too hard. When you force a stretch, you create scar tissue in your body that limits your mobility. Skip any exercise that causes sudden discomfort. Talk with your doctor if you have any concerns.

Vary your approach. Your body needs time to adapt to unfamiliar movements. In some sessions, you may want to hold a stretch for a few minutes or more. Other times, you might repeat a cycle of brief stretches several times. It also helps to learn a wide assortment of exercises that you can draw from on different days.

Take your time. When you hold a stretch for a minute or more, you will often notice that your body eventually relaxes into the position. Take advantage of that opportunity to extend a little further.

Even things out. It’s common for one side of your body to be more limber than the other. You may also be relatively loose in the shoulders but tight in the legs. Use your routine to correct imbalances.

Open your hips. Stiff hips are a trouble spot for many people. Try sitting in cobbler pose. Sit on the floor with the soles of your feet pressed together and lower your knees as far as possible.

Loosen up your back. Stretching eases back pain. Sit on the edge of a chair and bend forward. Take turns arching and rounding your back.

Enhancing Your Posture

Your habitual posture also affects your range of motion. Slouching around tends to shorten your tendons and round your shoulders while standing tall can help keep you supple. Rely on exercises and food choices that build up your bones and core muscles.

Perform floor exercises. Many stretches can be done while you’re watching TV or staying in a hotel room. How about doing a few squats or lunges?

Lift weights. Weight training increases your bone and muscle mass. It’s an ideal way to slow down the bone loss that comes with aging.

Take a walk. Carrying your body weight also helps. Buy a pedometer so you can track and increase the number of steps you take each day.

Sit less. You've probably seen studies about how sitting can interfere with your mental and physical health. Spend more time on your feet. Try out a standing desk or take breaks every half hour at work to stretch and stroll around. When you sit at your desk, hold your back straight and adjust your chair so that your knees and elbows are at right angles.

Eat nourishing foods. Calcium and Vitamin D are nutrients essential for strong bones. Low or no fat  supply calcium, while many foods like breakfast cereals are enriched with Vitamin D.

Win more tennis games or just go about your daily tasks with greater comfort and fewer injuries by extending your range of motion. Releasing muscle tension helps you to look better and age more gracefully.

Ways to relieve stress

Seeking Your Own Level for Stress Relief

It does't't matter what you are talking about in life, it always helps if you have a balance. This balance can not only be in a physical way, it may also be in a mental way and at times, it is not obvious to the eye. A good example of this is whenever you're dealing with stressful situations, either as a result of an imbalance in your life in some way or another or perhaps the imbalance is being caused by the stressful situation. In order for you to overcome it, you may need to find a way to seek your balance again.

There are numerous ways for you to be able to seek this balance but one of the easiest is for you to change your diet. There is an old saying that we are what we eat, and nothing can be more true as far as our stress levels are concerned. Whenever we are unable to handle the stress that life is throwing at us on a regular basis, many of us tend to console ourselves with food. Very rarely is this food healthy for us and it only helps to make the imbalance that is within our bodies even worse. By introducing healthy eating into our life again, we help to achieve a balance that enables us to be able to deal with stress successfully.

Another way to deal with stress is exercise. Increasing our activity during the day can help alleviate the pressure. Getting up and moving, if only for a few minutes gets us up and away from the problem thus maybe finding a solution to what is causing the stress. Exercise not only clears our mind but helps flush out toxins which can also be a stress reliever. Twenty to thirty minutes a day can lower blood pressure and can help us shed unwanted pounds.

We may also need to seek some kind of an outside force in order to help us to deal with the stress in a successful way. For example, acupuncture is something that may be used in order to reduce our stress levels. It works on an ancient Chinese principle that there is energy that flows throughout the body and at times, this energy gets blocked by imbalances within the body. Acupuncture, and other related natural medical treatments help to restore this free flow of energy to the body and allow us to overcome our stress naturally.

One final thing that you may want to try is just taking a little bit of time for yourself on occasion. Although it may not be possible for you to take long stretches of time in order to meditate and relax, it does help for you to relax your mind and go to a place where it is peaceful. Even while you're sitting at your desk, you can close your eyes for a minute and really enjoy getting away from it all in this way. Even a minute or two will do a lot in helping you to reduce your stress and help you to move on with the day.

AND DON'T FORGET TO SOP AND SMELL THE FLOWES.

Making A Routine

Creating an Evening Routine to Boost Your Success

Morning routines have become quite popular over the last few years. They’re great for getting the day started in a productive way. After all, if your morning runs smoothly, your day tends to go well. An effective evening routine can be just as important as a routine at the beginning of the day. The things we do before sleep have an impact, too.

Implement these simple evening tasks and boost your success:

Make a to-do list. There’s little point in starting your day without a game plan. For many of us, getting started is the hardest part. Wouldn’t it be beneficial to already have a to-do list in place?

Sit down each night and create a list of important tasks to be completed the following day. When you wake up, you’ll already be ahead of the game.

Review your goals. This can be done immediately before going to sleep. Your brain can spend all night working on solutions and ideas. This can be amazingly effective! There are many ways to review your goals. You can read them silently, say them aloud, re-write them, or visualize them. Doing all four is a great idea!
Read. It’s surprising how many successful individuals have a reading habit. You could spend time unwinding with some good fiction.

A more effective option is to read something that will increase your ability to be successful. It might an inspiring biography or a book that teaches you a new skill.
Brush your teeth and floss. Most of us brush our teeth every night. Far fewer take the time to floss. Flossing is one of the healthiest things you can do for yourself. The bacteria found in between teeth have been found to cause damage to blood vessels and heart valves. They’re also implicated in causing systemic inflammation. Take a minute and floss each night.
Spend time on a hobby. The great novel you’ve wanted to work on won’t write itself. Likewise, it’s doubtful you’ll learn to speak French by osmosis.

Give yourself time each evening to accomplish the great things you’ve been putting off. There won’t ever be enough time until you make time.
Meditate or pray. A long day at work or even some time with the family can be stressful. Taking 15 minutes to meditate or pray can help to lower your stress level. You’ll sleep better and enjoy your life more.
Write in a journal. Record your life and it will become noteworthy. After a month of writing, “Went to work. Came home. Ate dinner. Watched TV. Went to bed,” you’ll realize that you’re living a boring life. Change it and get out of your rut!
Exercise. This is commonly thought of as a morning activity, but how many people do you know that exercise before work? Not many! Spending 30 minutes on a treadmill or lifting weights each evening can make a huge difference in the way you look and feel. You can even kill two birds with one stone and do it while watching the evening news.

These are just a few examples of the things you might include in an evening routine. It’s unnecessary to have an endless list of tasks to complete after a long day at work. But most people fail to use their evenings effectively.

You can develop an effective and enjoyable evening routine that will change your life. For the most impact, consider the areas your life that could use a little work and begin there.
